Designer Project Permissions

Privileges such as viewing, saving, publishing, deleting, and editing of protected project resources are restricted to users who who have sufficient roles to do so. This fine grained security only applies to designer security. Editing of the these required roles is done in the permissions section of the project properties dialog in the designer. If no required roles are set for a privilege, no users are prohibited from the privilege. Note, a users roles can’t be changed in a designer session after a session has already be opened, so don’t expect the update of a users roles to take effect until after the user opens a new designer session.

Protected Project Resources

Protected project resources are resources that can only be edited by select users with required roles. These roles are required to protect or modify protected resources. Like other designer project permissions, configuration for protected project resources can be done in the permissions section of the project properties dialog in the designer. Global resources may be protected as well, but the configuration for protected global resources is done in the gateway settings section in the web interface.

Tag Provider Security

Security can be configured on a per tag provider basis. Only users with the required roles to add, remove, import, or edit tags in a provider may do so. These roles are configured in the real time tag provider configuration section of the gateway interface. In the absence of required roles, all users may modify tags for the provider.
